Back after a brief hiatus

Well, if there are any readers still out there, we are officially back in the blogging game. I figured out how to get the pictures from my camera onto my computer (turns out there is a built in card reader- who knew?), so hopefully this means we're back in business.

Since so many things have happened in the last few months, I think I'll just post a few pictures as highlights. With Audrey's arrival right around the corner, I want to get back into the posting swing as quickly as possible so I can share pictures of our newest family member with you.

And without further ado, the light of our life...
We sent to the Science Center for Matt's birthday and Charlotte had a grand time with the arch. Mostly just knocking it down, but fun nonetheless!
Charlotte loves her bubbles! She is constantly asking for "bubbles" be it bath time or otherwise.

One of Charlotte's favorite toys is a set of attachments that make different instruments. It belonged to me and my brother when we were little, then got passed down to our cousins Paige and Morgan. Now it's Charlotte's!

Charlotte could not wait to get back in the swing once the weather started to warm up. And aren't the pigtails just adorable? She won't let me put them in any more. It makes a mama sad.

I let her lick the beaters for the first time after I made some whipped cream. She was quite the fan.

I made this tutu for her after seeing one at her friend Abby's house. Super easy and so cute! Charlotte really liked it for a few weeks. Now it's pushed in the back of the toy box. Hopefully it will make a fresh appearance.

Is this not the sweetest face in the world?

Taking a nap at Uncle Andrew's over Easter weekend. So sweet.

Charlotte's first egg hunt. She had a great time.

Hunt #2 at Dave and Carla's. I love this dress so much. I wish I could put her in her Easter dress every day.

My little movie star. She has the best smile.

St. Louis Girl. We were down town for the St. Louis marathon and played around for awhile after watching our friend Ryan cross the finish line. Charlotte loved the fountain.

We spent some time playing at the new city garden. It was really cool! It had this neat "fountain field" for the kids to play around in. Charlotte was very cautious at first, but eventually warmed up.

Wait for it....

Easter egg hunt #3 at my parent's house. Charlotte had even more fun!

Where'd they go?

Playing with the kitties. Charlotte sure loves her kitties.

Charlotte brought this textbook over to Matt one night to read before bed. The science nerd in him was so proud!

Another visit to Uncle Andrew's and Aunt Lindsey's. Charlotte climbed in herself, shut the door, and as we found out later, proceeded to fill her diaper. Apparently a kid just sometimes needs her privacy.

We stopped to play at Cosmo park in Columbia on our way home from KC. Despite the abject look of terror on her face, she had a great time with this piece of equipment. She had Matt hold her up a couple of times.

Mother's Day breakfast. Charlotte and Matt let me sleep in an extra hour and then had a great pancake breakfast and beautiful flowers from our garden waiting for me in the sun room. Perfect!

Charlotte's really gotten into pretend play lately. She loves to cook for us. It's a sight that warms this baking mommy's heart. She's even started baking with me! She likes to dump things into my mixing bowls and gets excited to watch the mixer. I had a blast with her making cupcakes over Memorial Day weekend. She's turning into quite the little sous chef!

She loves when I get the camera out. She sees the camera and says "cheese!" I have to sneak up on her to get more candid shots these days.

Enjoying her raisins at the first Cardinals' game of the season. One of Matt's students had four tickets he couldn't use, so we asked my parents to come with us. The weather was perfect and while the Cards didn't win, we had a great time cheering them on anyway.

Memorial Day Weekend

We got a new dishwasher and brought home the best new toy ever- the large cardboard box. This picture cracks me up because I can't help but think of Jack Nicholson and The Shining. Heeeeerrrreee's Charlotte!

My family threw a little shower for Matt and I a couple of weeks ago and my cousin Laura gave Charlotte this super cool bubble machine. It puts out a ton of bubbles and Charlotte has a great time with it.

She also learned to jump recently and spent a good portion of the weekend practicing. There were a couple of spills, but she is so proud when we ask her to "hop like a bunny!"

Taking a break from all that jumping.

Does this picture just not scream childhood? I love the crazy running, the screaming and the look of pure joy on her face. It's currently one of my favorite pictures of Charlotte. Such a kid now- where did my baby go?

Charlotte playing with her best bud, Callie. She loves the neighbor's cat and always comes out to play with her. Callie is so tolerant and patient with her. She is a great cat!

Water break with Mommy before we had to go inside. It was hot that day! Charlotte's cheeks were so red. She drank a ton of water out of her new sports bottle (thanks Paige and Morgan!). She loves the sports bottle and just cracks me up to see her with it. She's turned into such a little girl!

Tickles!

The dishwasher box became even more fun after Matt cut a door and window into into it. We've started decorating it with markers, but the markers are now put up and out of reach after Charlotte decided to put her mark on our ottoman, the floor and herself. Crayola markers really are washable.

I see you!

And that's our family in a nutshell. It's our life in snapshots. Hopefully I'll be better about keeping up. I know you're all DYING to know what's going on in the life of the Freemans.

Jan/Feb '10

Things have been busy around the house for us, but everything's going great! A few photos to share; two of Charlotte after being basically knocked down in the Target parking lot by her parents trying to swing her, and some cute ones cheering for her favorite team!

All Dolled Up

Uncle Andrew FINALLY married Aunt Lindsey the Sunday before Thanksgiving and while I don't have any pictures of the event, I do have pictures of Charlotte all dolled up and ready to go to the wedding. These pictures were actually taken the day after since both Charlotte and I were insanely sick that day. Charlotte was battling a 103 degree fever and I wasn't too far behind her. It was a rough couple of days. I wish we could have been healthier during the wedding, but we look forward to much more fun over the years with Uncle Andy and Aunt Linny.

Christmas 2009

We spent Christmas Eve at my parents house, but I being the failure of a photograph-taking-parent I am, forgot my camera. Charlotte had a blast opening presents and hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa. We spent a quiet Christmas morning at home before heading back to my parents' house that evening. Our big Hopmann family Christmas was supposed to be that night at my aunt's house, but a Kansas City snow storm kept some of the family away until the next night. Unfortunately we missed that, but we did get to see most of my family on Christmas.

Christmas morning- Charlotte's "new" car and motorcycle. She loved them!

The new kitchen Mommy and Daddy gave her. She headed straight for it when we brought her down Christmas morning. Can you believe this child slept until 9:00 that morning? Probably the last Christmas we'll do that for awhile!

Watching the Christmas snow with Daddy. Nothing compared to KC, but a white Christmas nonetheless!

Yummy chocolate in her stocking!

Checking out her pretty new sweater from the Van Nests. She looks like such a big kid, checking out her new clothes. Where did this toddler come from?

Her new combo xylophone and piano. She loves making music.

Such a cheese

The Freeman Family 2009- we'll be one bigger next year!

Finally figured out how to get pictures off my camera

While this isn't the blog post I had in mind and it is no longer Monday, I did want to show my commitment to my resolution by posting this super cute picture Matthew took while he and Charlotte were at home for their snow day. I have hundreds and hundreds of pictures to sort through before a "real" blog post, but I'm well on my way through Christmas and will be back this weekend with more Charlotte. For now, please enjoy the awesomeness that is my daughter, my husband's styling efforts and my new camera!

A New Year, a New Promise

Beginning this evening, I will post what will hopefully be the first of many blog updates in the future. I know I've been slacking, but the first trimester killed me this time around! I am now, however, happily into the second trimester and beginning to feel slightly more normal, if not larger, than I was a few weeks ago. I was also given an awesome new camera by my parents and have zero excuses not to shower you all with beautiful pictures of my even more beautiful daughter. And I might even throw in a few pictures of the bun I'm baking.

Here's to a new year full of new babies and hopefully new blog posts!
