Charlotte's future BFF is here!

Yay for new babies! David and Peggy finally welcomed their new (not-so) little girl this morning at 9:14. Welcome to the world Abigail- we can't wait to meet all 9 lbs, 3.7 ounces of you!

Anxiously awaiting Charlotte's new playmate

As I type this, our friends David and Peggy are at the hospital, waiting for their little one to make his or her arrival! We are so excited for them and can't wait to meet their new son or daughter. Charlotte is eager to meet her new fellow cloth-diapered friend!

I've been thinking about Peggy all day and remembering my own labor experience. It's funny how the memories of how awful the last few weeks and how exhausting the labor experience was have started to fade. That must be why babies are cute. It forces the moms to forget about the bad stuff!

Peggy contracted for months before her due date, but after the scare of a potentially premature baby, she was induced very early this morning and is still waiting for the Pitocin to kick in. Ah, the irony. I can certainly sympathize/empathize and my fingers are crossed for an easy, if not quick, delivery! We can't wait to meet him or her!

Behind the Wheel

Charlotte has almost mastered her car walker. She has moved from using her head (and risking a bloody nose) to actually using her hand to honk the horn. She has some motor skill issues with the smaller buttons, but she'll accidentally hit them and be so proud she made the music play. I can't believe how well she holds herself up in the walker. It is amazing how quickly she's growing. Won't be long before she's driving a real car!

Fun Times at Grandpa's

As mentioned earlier, we visited Tom and Edie over Halloween weekend. Charlotte got to spend lots of quality time with her Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Andrew even made an appearance. It's always nice to spend time with grandparents!

Charlotte loves her hat (and mittens) from Lindsey and Uncle Andrew!

T-I-double G-ER

The cutest Tigger you'll ever see!

Knocking on her first door to trick-or-treat!

Fall Fun

We visited Grandpa Freeman's Halloween weekend and enjoyed some of the beautiful fall weather that weekend. Charlotte loves to look at leaves and listen to the crunching, so we decided to let her play in the leaves a little. It was super fun! Nothing cuter than a beautiful little girl in the leaves.

I've grown accustomed to her face.

My girl is back!

The doctor said she still has fluid in her ear, so Charlotte is now on a new antibiotic. When Matt brought her in, she was her usual smiley self. Maybe Tuesday was just a crabby day for her. I guess we all have them.

I'm just glad to have my girl back. She slept through the night last night and when I woke her up to get ready, she didn't wake up screaming. She smiled and giggled just like she used to! Yay! My baby girl is back!

I hate being a nervous new mom.

Sigh...

Well, it seems our little girl may be sicker than we thought. Our beautiful, smiley, perfect sleeper has been replaced with a fussy, crabby, wake-up-every-two-hours baby. My mom told me that I would know when something was wrong with Charlotte because she would act differently and now I know she was right. I hate not knowing what is wrong!

Matt is taking her to the doctor this afternoon to get her checked out. I have two theories. The first is that her tummy is upset from the antibiotic the pediatrician put her on for a potential ear infection. The second is that she may be teething. I hope it's only one of those!

I know children get sick and that this isn't the last time Charlotte won't feel well, but I feel so helpless not knowing what is wrong or how to make her feel better. This change in her temperament is so troubling because she is usually such a wonderful baby. I don't know how to deal with a fussy baby!

And now I wait for the phone call from Matthew letting me know what the doctor said. Poor baby girl. And poor Mommy- I'm as upset as she is!

My Adventures With Daddy

Daddy and I have lots of fun together. Sometimes Mommy's not around to supervise and make sure Daddy stays in line; Daddy Days are the super fun! Daddy got to stay home with me and play all day. The following is a photo-synopsis of our Charlotte and Daddy day.Time to wake up! I really like my ducky sleeper with the duck feet and the quilt that Mrs. Pendarvis made for me. They keep my feet warm even when Daddy keeps the heat on 18 degrees C.After I woke up and got my diaper changed, it was time to play in the jungle.Next, Daddy decided it would be good to take me out of my pajamas and dress me up in Pooh.
It's cold outside; maybe Daddy can find me some gloves.
Wait, these aren't gloves! They taste like feet!
Okay, Daddy. The "gloves" were a bad idea. Time to go for a walk.
Please! No pictures!
This walk sure is taking awhile. I wonder where we're headed.Mmmm, that sure was good! Just kidding, Mommy. I want to come back here next year!
The walk home was long and tiring.
I was tuckered out.
Really tuckered out!
In case you were wondering, this is the best way to suck your thumb.
Diaper time!
Num, Num, Num, Num... Good stuff.
Naw, I'd rather eat the burp cloth than burp.
What? It's really tasty!
Now that I'm fed, it's time to play.
Where's Charlotte?
There she is!!!
Now, for some exploring in the jungle:
I think now I want to play on my Boppy.
This is fun!
The Great Charlotte Diaper-Houdini will now morph into a different shape. See if you can guess what I am pretending to be:
I'm a bat! (maybe a flying squirrel is more accurate, plus mommy loves squirrels)
Now, to the bat cave, er, uh, jungle for a bat-nap.
After I woke up, Daddy decided to get ready to take me for my afternoon walk.
We were just getting ready to go, when the door opened and startled me!
Oh no, the dreaded kissy-monster!!!
Oh, geez! You're smothering me, Mommy! I love it though.Daddy may be lots of fun, but I'm sure glad to see Mommy come home!

Don't Forget to Vote!

Just a friendly reminder to all our friends and family- get out there and vote! No matter who you vote for, just make sure you do it! We are lucky to be a remarkable part of history this year and I shouldn't have to remind you about your civic duty (I'll leave my jury duty/civic duty speech for another time).

Charlotte, though she can't vote, has decided she supports Obama. She will always cast a vote for a change! (Get it? Like a diaper change? Ha ha ha.)

You better go vote; I've got my eye on you.

Poor little Charlotte

Matthew had to take a day off of work yesterday to take our little girl to the doctor. She's had a cold for over a month now, and the doctor told us to watch her and if she got worse, to give him a call. A few days ago, the cough started to get worse and then the daycare provider commented on it, so we decided it was time to take her in.

The doctor checked her out and while the cough didn't concern him, he did think she might have an ear infection since she had been stuffed up so long. He tried to check out her ears, but apparently she had too much buildup in her ears, so he had to clean them out first. She tolerated it like a champ for the first few minutes, but then decided to let Dr. Smith have it. There was some fluid in her ear, so Dr. Smith prescribed Amoxicillin and told Matthew to bring her back in a couple of weeks. Now she gets to drink pink milk. Hopefully she'll be better soon!

Just like Mommy
