Last Day of Vacation

Our last day in Nauvoo was short, but nice.  We went back into historic Nauvoo to check out some sites that we didn't get to the day before.  We got tickets for a wagon ride, but had some time to kill before our ride, so we checked out the ox rides before hand.  Charlotte had a pretty good time watching the animals.  She also thought it was pretty hilarious hen the ox relieved himself during the ride.  We heard about that poop for awhile.

After the ox ride, we took a wagon tour of historic Nauvoo.  It was neat to ride the wagon, but also to hear the missionary tour guides tell us about the sites.  Charlotte had a pretty good time, but I think her favorite part was the snacks we gave her on the ride.  Whatev.

After the tour, we went back down town for lunch before hitting the road to home.  We ate at a very tasty diner.  I had a fabulous BLT and the BEST rhubarb pie.  Yummy.  Charlotte ate her mac and cheese and got super excited about the fact she as going to get ice cream.  The problem was not in the ice cream, but in the fact that she wanted to "drink it".  It took me forever to figure out what the heck she meant, but she wanted me to stir the ice cream until it melted enough for her to drink through a straw.  What?  Time to introduce this girl to a shake.
Nap time with papa

FINALLY happy with the texture of the ice cream.

On our way back, we saw the dam in Keokuk.  Matt was pretty excited.  Whatever.  I just wanted the girls to nap.  We veered off the river road and decided to take the main road back home.  I think we were all ready to be done with vacation.  We arrived home around dinner time and after unpacking the van, Kirk and Debbie were out of there!  I immediately left with Charlotte to see Paige and Morgan's end show for dance and then we both passed out right after we got home.  It was the end of a lovely trip, but it is always nice to be home sweet home!
